Starcastle, como muitas bandas da década de setenta, apelava para um rock progressivo bastante convencional. Uma forte influência do Yes, arranjos muito arrumados e uma cuidado na utilização dos sintetizadores e coros. Starcastle soava como o que você imaginou quando o pensava em rock progressivo.

Como qualquer outra banda de sucesso restrito - em outras palavras, banda de bons concertos  e poucas vendas - teve uma série de mudanças de musicos e direção musical, até que finalmente, em silêncio e com mais dor do que glória, foram dissolvidos.
Starcastle em seu tempo, literalmente, soou como um clone Sim, embora às vezes o seu som é mais próximo ao do Kansas ou Styx.
